Sony Mobile has also launched today its next generation smartwatch along with android smartphone. Sony's Smartwatch 2 is the world's first water-resistant smartwatch that is also equipped with NFC connectivity.

Sony Launches Water-Resistant Smartwatch 2

Sony has announced its next generation model of SmartWatch 2 (SW2) with NFC connectivity, Android UI, dust proof, water resistant and stylish mini extension of your Android smartphone. SW2 can be used to make, receive, reject and mute calls along with volume adjustment. You can spy using your Android camera and take snapshots using Camera app on your watch. The key integration with Google OS gives many advanced functions in tiny display along with casual watch functions. You can check your emails, play music, maps and fitness tracking app Runtastic. It is still your companion when your tablet or smartphone is to be used as presentation. You can flip your pages using SW2 instead of touching gadget, making it fun and comfort.

The display is 1.6 inch transformative LCD with touch & swipe support and readable in sunlight. It has a black metallic color on wrist straps. SW2 design is makes it compatible with all weather conditions as rain and sunlight. Its dimensions are 41.6x41.1x9mm with 23.5gm weight, 48.4gm with silicon straps and 122.5gm with metal strap. External connectivity can be established using Bluetooth 3.0 with Google Android 4.0 and above versions. It has a micro USB slot for charging, which can last for 3-4 days to standards usage when fully charged.

It is pre-loaded with Android based apps as Smartwatch host application, call controller, call log, missed call notifications, SMS/MMS, Email, Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Calendar, Weather, Runtastic, Viewfinder, new event aggregator and music controller. The technological watch is shipped with English as basic language. But it also supports Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Portuguese, Czech, Russian, Polish, Spanish and Swedish.

Sony’s head of companion products, Stefan K Persson, said that it is not another trial but a complete product based on 0.5 million existing SmartWatch 1 (launched in 2007) customers. He has point to Apple Inc. who is new in this technology and will go through a development phase yet. He further said that these technology watches would be sold more than 41 million till year 2016. Basically it is a watch that delivers all traditional features to see time and set alarm. Apart from it, you can read pre-downloaded messages, notification. Initially Sony supplies a silicon and metallic wristband but other color variants would be added later.

Samsung and Apple are still planning to launch their intelligent watches while Sony upgraded its SW1 model to SW2 with all latest innovative features. SmartWatch 2 is expected to be released in September 2013. Apple may also announce its iWatch, another smart watch. There is no detail about its pricing.
