Samsung Electronics attached a $13,000 cost price to its curved OLED TV. The model is the latest of its kind. And it is extremely thin. The technology used in this television of the future is very complex. That is one reason it is so costly. Previously, OLED technology had been used in smart phones with curved screens. But for the larger screen of a television, the expenses are fivefold as much as flat screen versions. Currently, the sector for OLED TVs is still in its infancy. Therefore, the sales figures would not necessarily turn out as expected. The new technology has just entered the public arena. So how it is taken depends on the public as well.
Sales of OLED TVs are expected to reach the seven million mark three years from now. In July, Samsung will begin exporting curved OLED TVs. LED technology is the wave of the future. It offers snappier resolution, speedier responses and sharp images. Besides, curved televisions offer a more immersive experience. Samsung and its arch-rival LG have put their money where their mouth is in case of OLED technology. In the past they beat Japanese giant Sony via LCD technology. They plan to do the same with OLED paraphernalia as well. Samsung is at present the world’s biggest maker of TV sets. LG and Samsung together make over half of the globe’s television sets. Samsung does not take chances though. That is why it also unveiled its UHD TV today.
It is the curves that say it all. The unique technology means that costs will be lowered from their current astronomical rates within two years time. The curved OLED TV is on sale at 20 stores throughout South Korea. OLED screens are slim and slight. They also possess energy-saving properties. Samsung has stated clearly that the curved OLED TV lends depth and definition to the view. The curves allow for greater comfort to the eyes from any angle. Measuring 55 inches, the flawlessly curved OLED TV is part of the “Timeless Arena” design series. The model has multi-view facilities which are like 3D glasses. Also an Evolution Kit CPU Upgrade exists among the TV’s features.
