Apple Backs Samsung by Signing Deal with TSMC

Despite of all the rivalry between Apple and Samsung, Apple's all iOS devices always have Samsung processors inside. But it looks like the scenario is going to be changed now. It is also much speculated from many months that Apple will switch off its chip supplier from Samsung to TSMC. Now The Wall Street Journal reports today that Apple Inc. has finally signed a deal with chip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). Now Apple's iPhones and iPads will carry a 20nm chip manufactured by TSMC starting in 2014.

TSMC officials said that the deal is done after their company fulfills Apple's chip standards of speed and power. Apple and Samsung were having an ideal partnership ten years before. At then, they were not competitors. But from the previous 2 years or more, Samsung has become a big rival for Apple in the cell phone market. Both of these had sued each other and are still having cases running in courts. That is why; Apple is looking to change its supplier. This new TSMC deal will help Apple to do so. But it will not be easy though. Samsung is the main chip supplier for Apple and will remain till 2014. Both Apple and Samsung refused to give any comment on the current deal.
