TSMC officials said that the deal is done after their company fulfills Apple's chip standards of speed and power. Apple and Samsung were having an ideal partnership ten years before. At then, they were not competitors. But from the previous 2 years or more, Samsung has become a big rival for Apple in the cell phone market. Both of these had sued each other and are still having cases running in courts. That is why; Apple is looking to change its supplier. This new TSMC deal will help Apple to do so. But it will not be easy though. Samsung is the main chip supplier for Apple and will remain till 2014. Both Apple and Samsung refused to give any comment on the current deal.
