Google Fiber. Google TV. Google Internet TV service? Why not?
Google is rumored to be wooing media companies to license their own content for a new Internet TV service that the company is planning to launch. According to the Wall Street Journal, sources with knowledge of the subject said that Google has already demonstrated the said product.
It's more likely that Google will follow the standard programming bundles that cable and satellite operators pay for. This means that the packages will include both popular and less popular channels. Doing so would enable Google to get decent rates for its new Internet TV service.
If the report is true, then Google will be joining other giant technology companies such as Intel and Apple, who are also working on their own streaming service. Google declined to comment on the report.
The Wall Street Journal adds that this is the second time for Google. Two years ago, Google also talked with media companies to pursue a similar service. The talks were not very successful.
