According to the latest Consumer Video Devices Market report by Frost & Sullivan, Apple owns 56 percent of the streaming devices market in the year 2012. Trailing behind the Cupertino-based technology giant is digital media company, Roku, with 21 percent.

Explaining the reason for Apple's dominance, the report cites Apple TV's AirPlay feature as the primary reason. The feature, which simplifies the process of transferring laptop and tablet displays to a TV screen, is considered as major contributing factor to purchase iDevices.
Roku's disposition is expected. The company is considered as the largest vendor in the video streaming market, with content agreements to top TV vendors including Time Warner Cable.
