The Saudi government decided to spend $22.5 billion to build a metro for Riyadh.

Siemens and other big public transport technology companies are already packing their bags to fly to Saudi Arabia to get some of the $22.5 billion the Saudi government earmarked for a new metro system for Riyahdh. The Riyadh Metro is supposed to be the largest public transport initiative in the world right now.

The Riyadh metro will have a track length of 176 km and construction will begin in the first quarter of 2014.
