Gold is a color that while being sophisticated is slightly ostentatious too. However, it may be an option for the iPhone 5S which is about to come on the scene.
The rumors are flying here and there like crazy. The Apple iPhone 5S is going to sport a gold/champagne look. Until now Apple had given only two choices: black and white. While quite boring this was ultra-modern too. Gold though is a bit more flashy and suggestive of lots of conspicuous consumption. It has been said that this particular choice of color would be more popular in China and India rather than in the West. However, if you take a closer look at the iPhone 5S, you will see that it has more of a light golden champagne sheen rather than a proper gaudy gold exterior. The gold treatment is an attempt at attracting consumers in nascent markets.

The gilded treatment given to this phone mimics the gold watches and neck-chains worn by rap stars. It is in short a celebration of jewelry and the rich and famous who display it in a show of vanity. Apple will however need to give some solid reasons in its ads to back up this edition. It already has the alibi of high class social status to bolster the gold/champagne version. Early September is the season set for the launch of the “Goldfinger” phone. Like James Bond’s movie, this technological temptress by Apple too is totally immersed in a coating of a golden hue.
