Apple is for the first time holding a separate media event inside China.
Apple is upping its efforts to sell iPhones in China. Reports come in that Apple has sent out invites to Chinese media outlets for an iPhone media event taking place on September 11th at 10am. The event will take place in Beijing.
TNW is quick to point out that the C in iPhone 5C could stand for China. I am favoring though the interpretation that C stands for color. In any case, Apple sees the importance of the Chinese market and wants to make sure it is making the most out of it. Especially since the China based phone maker Xiaomi has overtaken Apple. The big surprise would be if Apple is able to announce that China's largest carrier is finally selling the iPhone. China Mobile is the only carrier in China that is not offering the iPhone yet.
Apple has sent out invites for the main iPhone event taking place on September 10th at 10am in California. Tim Cook might be able to hop on a plane to also be at the Beijing iPhone event. We will see if he does that.
