JJ Abrams and George Lucas are Working Closely Together on New Star Wars Films

Star Wars fans will be glad to hear what George Lucas' son, Jett Lucas, has to say about the Star Wars franchise. According to Jett, his father has been in close contact with JJ Abrams, who will be directing the first of the new Star Wars franchise films. George's son also said that his dad is an "almost constant contact" with Abrams.

George Lucas continues on with Disney in a creative consultant capacity even though Disney purchased LucasFilm and the Star Wars franchise for over $4 billion. Jett has some other interesting tidbits to throw in saying that his father was torn about letting go of the series and had written outlines for future films.

Jett also confirmed that actress Saoirse Ronan had auditioned for a part in the upcoming Episode VII. He also denied rumors that any Star Trek actors were associated with the new Star Wars films. Filming is set to begin on the new Star Wars movies in January of next year in London.
