Reddit plans a live streaming Black Friday shopping event for the first time. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reddit is hosting a 12-hour livecast on Black Friday 2013 titled Redditgifts Shopping Network. The shopping livecast will feature demonstrations of products on sale on the redditgits site. Additionally the livecast will feature AMAs with celebs and notable personalities.
“We decided to give people a way to experience the holiday chaos without having to venture outside,” the company tells THR. “We hope it will become an annual Thanksgiving tradition, like the Macy’s Parade and the Detroit Lions losing.”
I do not think the redditgifts Shopping Network event will replace Black Friday deal hunting, but could be a nice addition for Black Friday online shoppers. You do not have to go outside to score the best Black Friday deals anymore. Retailers will offer many Black Friday doorbuster deals online starting Thanksgiving Day.
This year Black Friday is rather late falling on November 29th. In 2012, Black Friday was on November 23rd. Retailers will have four full weeks to please you with special Black Friday 2013 sales until the culmination of the actual Black Friday and the encore on Cyber Monday 2013 (December 2nd).
According to Black Friday Countdown there are 48 days until Black Friday 2013. We will again provide full analysis and guidance of Black Friday Ads and Deals in our Black Friday Hub.
