We expect to the PS3 to sell for $150 or less during Black Friday 2013 sales. Many consumers who can't put their hands on the PlayStation 4 in time for holiday giving will undoubtedly settle for a PS3. We also expect to see bundles selling for under $200 with several popular video games included.
Sony intends to keep selling the PS3 alongside the PS4 for the foreseeable future and the PS3 has a long life ahead of it yet. We expect the PS3 will still be one of the biggest selling game consoles of the 2013 holiday season.
Sony has just announced a new, cheaper PlayStation 3 will be launched in Japan on August 28.The new CECH-4300C model packs in 500GB of storage and will be on sale for 25,980 yen, which comes to about £151/$253/AU$272, making it a tad cheaper than the current model.Meanwhile the existing 250GB and 500GB black PS3 models, along with the 250GB white one, will be discontinued.
