The software engineers of the world are paid more than average jobholders. Some organizations offer great rewards in return for the valuable services of these unique people. The Glassdoor Report for this year calculated the number of firms that meted out the most in terms of dollars to software engineers. The names which came up included some top cats and big shots.
Right up there on top at #1 was Juniper Networks which almost shelled out $160,000 per employee. Then at #2 came LinkedIn which offered $136,427 per person. And the #3 position went to Marissa Mayer’s Yahoo. Yahoo’s staff got an average of $130,312 per head. Within the $140,000 range the rest of the players such as Google, Twitter, Apple, Oracle, Walmart and Facebook entered in their respective slots.
Nvidia gave its people $115,649 while eBay’s pay packet amounted to $114,720. Amazon and Hewlett Packard stood at $110,907 and $110,506 respectively. Then there came Cisco, Microsoft and Intel. Finally, Ericsson and Qualcomm were at the bottom of the list. The list was made based upon the 20 largest cities of the United States.
The salaries were proof of the high degree of learning and talent that went into becoming a software engineer. It was no child’s play. On the contrary, the job required extreme analytical thinking skills and a thorough grasp of computer lingo.
