BlackBerry Messenger is finally launched for worldwide users after being delayed in last month. And the initial download rate proves BBM for Android and iOS to be a hit. As the company officially announces via its @BBM twitter account that in initial 8 hours of its launch, BBM app for Android and iPhone hits 5 million downloads. It's a huge number.

BlackBerry has already announced before the launch of BBM app that 6 million users signed up already ahead of launch. And as the BBM app is free, it can have more downloads. In fact, BBM for iPhone has now become number 1 free app on iTunes Store.
Though the company is struggling to make their smartphones popular again. But their instant messenger app becomes popular. BlackBerry tweets, "Next 5 million in line - your turn! Open up BBM and click "I got the email" to get started on #BBM right away!"
These 5 million users are those, who have activated their accounts for BBM app. There will be users waiting for the activation of their accounts. But the QWERTY handset maker did not specify any figure that how much more are waiting to download BMM app.
