The news report is causing the company concern about the performance of Samsung products in the largest consumer electronics market in the world. According to the news report, the S3 and Note 2 devices have been afflicted with a condition termed 'Sudden death', as it is popularly known causing the tablet or phone to shut down suddenly. Multiple attempts to revive the device remain unsuccessful causing the owner to lose data he or she was working on. The news clip seems to imply the Samsung is losing its touch, with the number of reported issues plaguing the newer releases.
Samsung has recently issued a statement indicating a firmware fix on the cards soon to cure the ailing devices. Further probing into the devices that have experienced this sudden death indicates an issue with the flash memory module, leading experts and critics to believe that some models cannot be repaired and will continue to face the same problem. Representatives from the Korean electronics company have issued a statement thanking the broadcaster for the news report and assuring the public that the company extends its full co-operation to those affected. The representative also noted that the repair and refund policies of Samsung are in compliance with Chinese laws.
In what appears to be damage-control mode, Samsung has offered owners who have had to pay for the repair a refund, and have now extended the warranty of potentially affected devices made before 30 November 2012 for an additional twelve months. This move has been received well by the public working well for Samsung's public perception.
There have also been rumors that Samsung is investigating its tablet and mobile phone departments to get to the bottom of the issue resulting in bad press and market share slipping. Knowing Samsung, the company is sure to bounce back with bigger and better products and the Chinese media is a slight stumble in its battle to own the market.
