Kraft Foods Group has announced on Friday that it is recalling 22 varieties of Kraft and Polly-O String Cheese and String Cheese Twists products due to early spoilage.
Kraft voluntarily recalls some of its cheese products due to early spoilage and color change. The Kraft Foods Group has issued a recall statement for approximately 735,000 of cheese products in the United States that have "Best When Used By" code dates from October 25, 2013 through February 11, 2014. These products can be spoiled before their best before dates. This early spoilage can discolor the cheese product.
The recalled cheese products include varieties of Kraft and Polly-O String Cheese and String Cheese Twists products. The 22 types of cheese products include Kraft Mozzarella String Cheese, Kraft Low Moisture Part Skim String, Kraft Italian Style Pizza Cheese Twists, Polly-O Barbecue Cheese Twist and many others. The affected products are not distributed in Canada.
Kraft said that it "is conducting this recall after receiving several reports from consumers of premature spoilage of some of the string cheese products listed above." The company has also stopped the manufacturing and distribution of these 22 types of affected cheese products from "the relevant facility as the company continues its investigation to resolve the problem."
