Food Stamps Cut Goes In Effect Today

Massive cuts in the food stamps program start today affecting on in every 7 Americans. The government cuts the program by $5 billion.

November 1st is not a great day for those who rely on Food Stamps to feed their families. Starting today, the government cuts the food stamps benefits budget by $5 billion. This translates in about a 7% drop on average for reciepients of food stamps. This means that there are about $10 less available per person per month to buy food according to Reuters.

There are even more cuts coming in the new U.S. farm blll that is now in its final stages in Washington. The spending cuts are pushed by the conservative Republicans. Barack Obama has warned against big cuts to the food stamp program.
