Blockbuster has already teamed up with Microsoft and Sony to reserve Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles for its customers who pre-ordered in advance. But why it needs permission now? Actually the UK company missed out the opportunity to pass on pre-order details to both companies due to its 'current difficulties'.
This is the reason that Blockbuster asked its customers to fill a permission form before midnight today to confirm their reservation. "Any applications received after this deadline will NOT be accepted," states Blockbuster. This permission form will allow the retailer to pass the pre-order details to Microsoft and Sony’s fulfillment partner for the purposes of reserving a console.
Company states that "On submission of the form, Blockbuster will verify your pre-order and will pass your details on to Microsoft or Sony, who will contact you directly to arrange payment and fulfil your order. We continue to issue refunds of console deposits for those people who have contacted Blockbuster; but regardless of whether you have received your refund yet, please fill in this form so you don’t lose out on your Xbox One and PlayStation 4 day 1 editions."
Blockbuster also said that it is just acting as a third party in between customer and Microsoft or Sony. The company is directly buying the customer console from Microsoft directly or Sony’s fulfillment partner on customer behalf. And customers are not actually buying from Blockbuster. The company said, "Our involvement is to ensure that everyone who pre-ordered in advance with Blockbuster has the opportunity to get their console of choice on day of release."
