The frantic search for a replacement for Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer has finally been narrowed down. Ford CEO, Alan Mulally and Microsoft insider, Satya Nadella are the favorite choices so far after a lengthy weeding process.
The global leader in software, Microsoft has finally shortlisted the candidates for its CEO position. They happen to be Alan Mulally and Satya Nadella. One is CEO of Ford Motors while the other one is internal executive at Microsoft.
Meanwhile, Tony Bates and Stephen Elop appear to have fallen out of favor. While they will remain in the final list, it is highly unlikely that they will be chosen in the end. The decision remains a slightly irrational one since it will not be based on simplistic factors.
Steve Ballmer will be leaving Microsoft after nine more months. Till then the Microsoft execs have all the time in the world to decide once and for all who will be the next CEO.
The company has been facing some tough times of late. That may have been one of the reasons its former CEO, Steve Ballmer waved a tearful goodbye to his tenure. He wants someone else to lead the company in the direction of progress.
Meanwhile, Alan Mulally wants to implement his One Ford Plan in any organization he joins in the future. A Ford spokesman, Jay Cooney said, “There is no change from what we announced last November. Alan remains completely focused on executing our One Ford plan. We do not engage in speculation.”
Recently, Bill Gates along with the board of directors of Microsoft met to focus on this issue. Gates spoke of how it will be a pretty complex decision to make. There are many qualities that the incoming CEO will be expected to demonstrate upon his assuming responsibility.
