Sky Store Rental Movie Service is Now Available for Everyone in the UK

Sky Store rental movie service was originally launched for Sky TV customers only. But the UK broadcasting giant has now opened its doors for everyone in the UK and ROI. Now the viewers in any home with a broadband connection in the UK and ROI can stream more than 1200 movies quickly to their TV or laptop using Sky's own website.

They can also watch rented movies via NOW TV Box, Roku or YouView box using the Sky Store app available from today onwards. Customers just need to set-up an account on the Sky Store website. They can then log-in to the Sky Store app on their box using their account as well as select and pay for the movie they want to stream instantly via their box onto their TV or laptop.

Sky Store will charge users £3.49 on a rental basis. But this is the rate for the latest movies like Man of Steel, The Hangover Part 3, Despicable Me 2 and The Lone Ranger. But older movies such as the Godfather, Forrest Gump, Top Gun and Austin Powers are now available for nominal prices that range from 99p-£1.99.

Sky has started this rental service for everyone due to the high demand. And Sky Store has rented 2.1 million movies in the three month period which ended on September 30th via Sky's own Sky+ set-top box. All the movies available on Sky Store website and Sky Store app offer a high-quality streaming experience. All rented movies via Sky Store can be viewed for 48 hours once you start the experiencing the high quality service. Sky TV customers can continue to access Sky Store via their Sky+ HD box.

Nicola Bamford, Director of Sky Store, said: “Millions of Sky TV customers already enjoy the choice and value of Sky Store.  Now we’re delighted that millions more homes can access hundreds of box office smashes alongside best-loved movie classics.  All you need is an internet connection and away you go.

With Sky Store there are no late fees and no waiting for the post. Customers simply sign up and stream the film they want to watch, when they want to watch, wherever they want - these days it couldn’t be easier to enjoy the perfect movie to suit your mood.”
