Ziering says he took one for the team

We can be honest in the fact that actor Ian Ziering hasn’t been a household name since the 90's when he played a lead character on the popular teen drama Beverly Hills 90210. None of those actors have gone on to do big things in the years since the show ended.

Recently Ian Ziering was in an incredibly and purposefully cheesy made for TV movie on SyFy channel called Sharknado. The premise of the film was that sharks get caught in a tornado and flop out of the sky to eat people on the land.

If you are wondering why Ziering did the movie, it is a simple answer. His wife is pregnant and he needed to keep his health insurance reports UPI. Ziering said, "I was really apprehensive, but as an actor I get my insurance from the Screen Actors Guild ... and you have to make so much every year to get that type 1 insurance. Halfway through the script, I said to my wife, 'Honey, I don't know about this.' She didn't miss a beat, she said, 'Look, you're going to have two babies [by] this spring, you need to go to work.'"

He continued saying, ""'Wow, I am going to have to take one for the team' and I probably would have passed on it. But now it's not just me. I'm providing for a wife and two kids."

"I continued reading the script and saw I got to chainsaw my way out of the belly of a shark and said, 'Hey this may not be so bad,'" the actor said. "I have so much fun doing what I'm doing, I forget sometimes, I do this for a living."

Apparently, the movie was popular enough that Syfy has ordered a sequel.
