LG offers its firs Google Play Edition tablet
LG has pulled the covers off its new tablet called the LG G Pad 8.3. This is the first device from LG to be designated a Google Play Edition Tablet. The tablet runs the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. LG says that the reference device will be available to purchase via Google Play.
The tablet has an 8.3-inch screen with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 and it uses IPS technology. The tablet also features a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. The tablet has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of integrated storage.
"LG's working relationship with Google has always been strong and our collaboration on the first-ever Google Play Edition tablet is proof of that commitment," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "The LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition is a device with hardware and software that has been optimized for a truly consumer-friendly experience. There's nothing else like it out there in the marketplace."
The tablet also features a 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera. Power comes from a 4600 mAh rechargeable battery. The tablet features integrated WiFi and measures 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3 mm with a weight of 338g. The tablet is available in the US for $349. LG says that availability outside the US is undetermined at this time.
