The source of the rumor claims that Apple is also making big strides in wearable prototypes. The prototypes reportedly use 100 mAh batteries and can charge wirelessly from a distance of up to one meter from the charge plate.
The Apple device would have to be power miserly indeed for a 100 mAh battery to deliver the runtime expected. The Galaxy Gear smart watch has a battery over three times that capacity. The idea may be that the user can have a charge cradle near their desk at home or the office and the watch will stay automatically topped off. There is also the chance that the rumored battery size is incorrect.
