Tesla Model E could land in 2015
The rumor wagon is running full tilt on today with tidbits about a new Tesla EV model called the model E. Motor Authority reports that rumors suggest the model E might debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto show. That launch date, if true, would mean the car will launch in about a year from now.

Currently the only car Tesla makes is the model S. I still wish Tesla would come up with better names than Model S and Model E. The rumor started when Tesla design chief Franz von Holzhausen said the company's entry level EV would be ready for the 2015 Detroit show.
A Tesla spokesperson later came forward and said that the company hasn’t confirmed the launch timeframe for the Model E. The car is expected to compete in price against the BMW 3-Series. That will make it an expensive car for sure, but considerably cheaper than the Model S that can run over $100,000.
The design chief did say that it will be visually different than the Model S. Von Holzhausen says that the company doesn't want a "unit face" like other automakers. Rumors indicate the Model E will cost under $40000 and have a 200-mile driving range.
