While the BMW i8 is already apparently sold out before its launch, the rumored Spyder version has no go date yet.
The BMW i8 hybrid sportscar is one hot ride with with a green touch. The BMW i8 will start shipping in mid-2014, but the production is according to a Reuters report already sold out for the first year. If you are a fan of driving open, like I am, then you might want to know that the BMW i8 Spyder is contrary to a new rumor not approved yet for production.

Bimmerpost reported this week that the BMW i8 Spyder has been set for launch end of 2015. UK's Autocar reports though that a BMW spokesman told them that the BMW i8 Spyder has not been approved yet for production. There are technical issues with the creation of a convertible version out of the coupe carbon bodyshell.
