US Ski star Lindsey Vonn has announced on Facebook that she will not be able to compete in the Sochi Olympics.
Lindsey Vonn stayed in the headlines also during summer because of her romantic relationship with super famous golfer Tiger Woods. Now the ski season started, but she makes headlines for the wrong reasons. First she canceled the first ski race of the season taking place in Soelden, Austria. She told her fans that she was not ready. Then she crashed during the training for the Copper Mountain. Now she just announced that she will not be able to compete at the Olympic Winter games in Sochi.
She said in a brief statement on her Facebook page: "I am devastated to announce that I will not be able to compete in Sochi. I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level. I'm having surgery soon so that I can be ready for the World Championships at home in Vail next February. On a positive note, this means there will be an additional spot so that one of my teammates can go for gold. Thank you all so much for all of the love and support. I will be cheering for all of the Olympians and especially team USA!"
This is sad news for all US ski fans. A fit Lindsey Vonn would have all the chances to win Olympic gold. The Sochi Olympic games in Russia will start on February 7.
