Sprint announces LG G Flex Pre-orders, Launch on January 31

Wireless carrier Sprint has announced that it has begun taking pre-orders for the LG G Flex smartphone. The smartphone has a curved 6-inch screen and is the first smartphone to feature a curved screen. Pre-orders for the device kicked off this week and it will launch on January 31.

The smartphone will sell for $299.99 with a new two-year contract. The phone will be available online first and will hit retail stores on February 7. Those who pre-order the smartphone will get a free case worth $59.99 from Sprint.

“Continuing to raise the bar in innovation, we are thrilled to once again team up with LG to bring a top-of-the-line device to our customers,” said David Owens, vice president of product, Sprint. “LG G Flex combines everything in a single device and provides Sprint customers curved ergonomic comfort and a cinematic viewing experience that will make movie buffs rejoice. With the multitude of Androidapps available for download, LG G Flex with Sprint Spark, combined with Sprint’s new Sprint Framily Plan, make an ideal pair for today’s multimedia, multitasking lifestyles.”

The 6-inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 720. The battery is a 3500 mAh unit with up to 29 hours of talk time. The processor under the hood is a 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 unit with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone has 32GB of storage, 13MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front camera. The operating system is Android 2.2.
