Exorcism is in itself a controversial subject since it doesn’t come under the rubric of science. However, when there is violence involved against the supposedly possessed individual, it often leads to casualties. The exorcism deaths of two children by their mentally ill mother in Maryland led to the law taking her into its custody.

Zakieya Avery had four children, of which two were killed when she repeatedly stabbed them with a knife in a supposed exorcism. While they were asleep, she perpetrated the heinous acts which led to their deaths. They consisted of a one year old boy and a two year old girl

Meanwhile, her two older children were harmed too although they are alive and recovering in a hospital. She had a history of psychiatric disturbance and she thought her children were under the influence of evil demons. After a neighbor informed the police, the authorized personnel came to the crime scene and found the blood-bespattered bodies of the two little kids.

The elder children are safe and secure in a medical center, although they have incurred serious injuries. An old relative of Avery told the police that normally she was a humble and polite person. She did not know what had gotten into her that had caused her to act in such an extremely brutal manner.

Another lady also was an accomplice in the disastrous exorcisms. She was living along with Avery when the murderous incidents took place. The two had met at church and believed in such things as evil spirits and demonic possession. The tragic happening has shocked the surrounding community of people by its sheer irrationality and horrific nature.
