Set top box runs Android 2.2

Satechi has announced the launch of a new set top box for video streamers called the Satechi Smart TV Box. The device is available now for $109.99. It uses the XBMC media management app for streaming video, live TV, and accessing local storage devices.

With full XBMC integration, the Smart TC Box is able to use all the available plug-ins for watching movies and other content. The device also ships with a remote control for controlling the media from across the room.

Inside the box is a quad-core 1.8GHz processor with 2 GB of RAM. The operating system for the set top box is Android 2.2. The set top box has integrated 802.11n networking, an Ethernet port, dual USB ports, and a SD card slot. It also features a HDMI output to connect to your TV.

The Android operating system means that it can play Android games and apps. A wireless keyboard and mouse or wired versions are supported via WiFi or USB ports. The set top box has 8GB of internal storage. The Smart TV Box is available to order right now.
