The SEA says that it hacked CNNs accounts as retaliation. The retaliation was against CNN for "viciously lying reporting aimed at prolonging the suffering [in Syria]." This isn't the first hack the SEA has claimed this month.
Earlier in the month, the same hacker group attacked Skype and other Microsoft social media pages and blogs. That hack was done as retaliation for Microsoft allegedly selling customer data to governments. CNN says that it hacked accounts and blogs are now secure. Of course CNN though they were secure before the attacks too.
