Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Glass smartwatch tipped
Some new reports are circulating around the web that Samsung is working on a refresh to the Galaxy Gearsmartwatch and a competitor to the Google Glass wearable device. The new watch is tipped to be called the Galaxy Gear 2 and the wearable device the Galaxy Glass reports Gigaom.
I can’t imagine that Google will think the Galaxy Glass name is acceptable when it sells the Google Glass wearable that started the market. The Galaxy Gear 2 is tipped to have a new design with a flexible OLED screen. The original Gear used a Super AMOLED screen.
The rumors expect that the new Galaxy Gear will hit stores in March or April. Samsungs rumored smart glasses are expected to launch around September of this year at IFA. The glasses are tipped to display alerts and to allow users to make and receive calls. The glasses are also tipped to be usable for listening to music.
That sounds more like the Bluetooth sunglasses that Oakley made in the past than Google Glass. I hope that Samsung has more up its sleeves than the features that are rumored so far.
