Nintendo needs a new console with more to offer than gimmicky controlls

Nintendo continues to struggle significantly with poor profits and sales numbers for its main console the Wii U. The Nintendo Wii U had one of its best years yet in 2013, and even that was bad. Nintendo went from 3.06 million units sold to 5.86 million sold. Those are numbers moved since launch.

By comparison, Sony sold more Ps4 consoles in a couple months than Nintendo sold all year. Microsoft also sold more Xbox One consoles in a few months than Wiis sold all year. There isn't much chance of the Wii U catching the sales numbers of the original Wii.

The original Nintendo Wii sold 100 million units. Nintendo has to give up on the unpopular Wii U at some point and try something new or just stop with game consoles. The 3DS sold better racking up 12.9 million sales in 2013. Nintendo sold 17.68 million games for the Wii U during 2013 according to Engadget.

Nintendo reported net income was down again in 2013. Net income was reportedly $98.7 million. Nintendo needs to step up its game and give us a new console with impressive graphics and stop relying on new controls to sell hardware.
