The fugitive’s name was Jose Angel Garcia-Juaregui. He led the police force of the state of Utah on a car chase that went on for an endless 50 miles. That was after stealing a vehicle and killing a deputy in the process.
His motives for the crimes were a mystery. But the sheriff has said that it might be due to a skipping of parole that the man chose such a violent and reckless path.
It all began when Garcia and his teenage female companion were questioned by a deputy on duty. After he left them in their truck, Garcia took aim and fired two shots from a handgun hitting the deputy in the chest. Then another deputy was shot in the head (he is currently in a critical condition).
Garcia hijacked a car and led the police on a wild high speed chase scene from Utah to Juab. He seemed to shoot his handgun at anyone and everyone who got in his way. Thank God no other citizen was injured despite his efforts at mindless criminality.
The police force finally caught up with him and brought him down with several bullets that hit him in various places. It was necessary since there was no other way of controlling the hothead. He has meanwhile succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The deputy who was shot in cold blood by this madman leaves behind him a wife and children. It is a sad story of the deadly fallout of thoughtless actions taken by the nihilistic.
