Olivia Newton-John to Reside in Las Vegas

We all remember the good old days when a film named Grease came out. Its portrayal of youth culture and a headstrong rebelliousness inspired a cult following among fans. Playing a major role opposite John Travolta was the drop dead gorgeous Olivia Newton-John.

The beautiful singer and actress is now well into her 60s. But she hasn’t lost the radiance and charm that she used to possess. Olivia Newton-John is going live in Las Vegas this summer. She will start her residency in Flamingo Las Vegas this April. The title of the show she will be performing in is Summer Nights (taken from a song in the movie Grease).

"We look forward to welcoming Olivia to Flamingo Las Vegas, where so many other iconic artists have performed," said Eileen Moore, regional president of the famed center Strip resort. "She has such a broad appeal and you can count all of us here at Flamingo among her adoring fan base; she's the 'one that we want' and we can't wait for her to call Flamingo home."

She will make an appearance in the Donny & Marie Showroom on Tuesday, April 8 and show everyone what she’s got. Olivia will be taking the audience for the ride of their life as she goes through the songs and films she has sung and acted in. Olivia's Summer Nights tickets will go on sale Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.

The lady only had praise for Las Vegas. She said that she had entertained audiences many times before at this spot which was her favorite haunt. Las Vegas, or Sin City, is the same venue where Britney Spears is doing her stint (at Planet Hollywood).

"I am thrilled to be able to call Las Vegas home for a while," says Olivia. "I have performed here many times through the years and have had nothing but wonderful memories and I look forward to even more fun at the Flamingo. I am especially thrilled that a portion of every ticket sold will benefit the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre."

Olivia Newton-John has sold a record-breaking number of albums through a rich life of musical and thespian talent. Hit songs from Grease such as “You’re the One that I Want”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and of course the swinging “Summer Nights” will all feature in Olivia’s spectrum.

Olivia has stood up for several meaningful causes.  She has also been the recipient of many accolades and awards. In 1992 she was diagnosed with breast cancer which she managed to conquer through treatment and hope. She has become a spokeswoman for cancer victims and also laid the foundation of a center for cancer treatment in her home town in Australia.
