Galactic Starfighter expansion available for all Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO players

EA and BioWare have announced that the expansion pack for the Star Wars MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic called Galactic Starfighter is now available to play for all users. The expansion originally launched only for paying players, but even free to play gamers can get in on the starfighter action now.

The game allows to players to have 12v12 pvp dogfight with customizable spacecraft. Those space ships include a bomber that can set proximity mines and launch drone fighters to protect their team. The ships are all customizable with paintjobs and weapons.

The game has a Team Deathmatch mode that lets players acquire powerups to use in battle. The expansion also brings a new tactical flashpoint called Kuat Drive Yards. This map is for players level 15 or higher and lets you fight in an orbital ship yard.

“Space combat is an iconic Star Wars experience that adds another level of excitement and immersion within The Old Republic universe,” said Jeff Hickman, Vice President, General Manager of BioWare Austin. “Galactic Starfighter shows that BioWare is committed to giving fans, new and old, the high quality Free-to-Play Star Wars experience.”

About the Geek Mind

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
