The applications specially made for the BlackBerry OS are still relevant in the South African region because of the position the Canadian devices that hold, but there are some other signs that the market is still shifting.

Despite taking a huge amount of loss in the share of the markets in North America and Europe, the BlackBerry Inc. smart phones have a healthy share of the developing countries like South Africa where the brand is still seen as a status symbol.

According to the latest research by the World Wide Worx, the BlackBerry Inc. had increased their market share in the South Africa from around 18% to 23%, while the Korean tech. giant Samsung was still flat down at 19%. The Apple Inc. in the country only has around 2% of the market.

The South African consumers have definitively made it crystal clear that they, despite what’s happening on the international front, are still willing to use the BlackBerry devices, and the news is according to the Lynette Hundermark, the Apps Business director at Presence.

She said that if a business was keen on reaching the widest possible number of consumers, it could not afford to ignore the BlackBerry Inc.
