Big changes in store for Arya this season
One of the most popular shows on TV is the HBO hit Game of Thrones. As you would expect with a series from HBO on cable TV, there is lots of blood, sex, and violence to be seen each week. The show has some young stars that play central roles in some episodes. One of those young stars is Maisie Williams who plays Arya Stark.
Williams says that when she and Sophie Turner, who plays her on screen sister Sansa Stark, would go to read throughs of the script and they would "cringe" from the sex scenes and violence reports the Inqusistr.
Williams said, "Me and Sophie, when we were little, we went to the read-throughs of the scripts and we were just, like, cringing. Other people love it, but it’s not my thing.”
There are some big changes for the character portrayed by the 16-year-old Williams this season.
“We’ve seen this kind of fun loving Arya who says it as it is and makes jokes, but this year she’s starting to change and we’re starting to see different sides to her,” Williams said to the entertainment site Wet Paint. “I don’t know how people are going to react. They might love it, they might hate it, but I think she’s becoming a lot more powerful in this world where women are getting bashed aside.”
Turner said, "There’s a kind of big evolution. She begins to kind of manipulate the people who have done wrong to her in her past. She becomes a powerhouse character but in a very subtle way. It’s really good.”
