The famous Alcatel One Touch Fire handset, which is one of the inaugural phones to sport the Mozilla Inc.'s Firefox Operating System, would not get the version 1.2 of the browser-based operating system -- but the device will get version 1.3.

That is the official word from the Mozilla Inc. and the Alcatel. And although it is an inauspicious start for the famous browser-based operating system, it is likely a relief to those people, who feared the Firefox OS 1.1 would be the end of the line.

One unpleasant aspect of the low-end Android phones is that they often do not get the Operating System updates, but the Firefox OS has not been around for long enough time to establish much of a track record for staying up to date. ‘The Alcatel Inc. was cautious after some of the troubles with the update to the Firefox 1.1’, the company has said.

The Alcatel Inc. has said – by following the reports of some of their users experiencing issues during their upgrade periods to the Firefox 1.1 in some specific markets – that they have temporarily paused the upgrade process while they are investigating and fixing the issue. This matter might currently affect a small number of the market and it has no effect on Alcatel’s current plans to support the upgrade of the Alcatel One, Touch Fire handset through to the Firefox OS version 1.3.
