We had heard a lot about the Galaxy S5 being unveiled at the ‘Unpacked Samsung 5’ event and now that this event is just around the corner, we are having tons of rumors, the newest one being about the launch of a waterproof S5. The rumor says that a separate waterproof variant will also be launched for the Galaxy S5 and this version will be sold to only 20 to 30 percent of the consumers of Galaxy S5.
This was only about the S5 but we are hearing that there will be other models of the Samsung portfolio which will have their own waterproof variants in this year. There is no evidence to support these rumors so far and all that has been speculated till now is backed by nothing. We also don’t have many leaks on the S5 as yet and it is being considered as the most ‘unleaked’ device. Though there haven’t been many leaks, Samsung has left a small loophole which we have caught; they have cancelled the order of around 5 million LDS antennas and in-mold antennas have been ordered in place of this. The LDS antennas cannot be waterproof since they are placed at the back of the phone and are usually very thin. The in mold antennas on the other hand are thicker and have the tendency to be made waterproof.
