A bug was found in the system at Apple recently. This of course required a contingency patch. The security breach was complicated though and was soon found to be a full-fledged headache for the experts at Apple.
Finally, the really nightmarish fact hit home that the bug had tentacles which extended all the way till Mail, Twitter, iMessage and Facetime. This is bad news indeed. The hackers seem to have done it once again and this time it is on their own terms.
The encryption codes used by Apple (TLS and SSL) have been compromised and the lay of the software land doesn’t look good. Hackers could easily get a hold of the vital and personal information by a “man in the middle” strategy.
Apple’s teams of engineers are busy trying to heal the flaw in the system. But it will take time. They are not wizards after all. And the hackers are already two steps ahead of the white hat SEO specialists.
They are very clever people who have a knack of breaking and entering the most secure places and sites. For now Apple has issued warnings to its users to download the necessary security software. And it has been doubly careful in letting its user base know that they should not take any chances.
The “goto” command responsible for the “gotofail” fiasco has to be sealed and that too properly so that a second such occurrence does not take place. Apple is in somewhat of a fix. With its immune system in tatters it will have to take giant steps to improve the shield system necessary to safeguard against such future attacks.
