Secondary live tiles will not be available for Windows 8.5, which will have a new start screen

Thanks to the Windows Phone emulator, we have been receiving quite some information regarding Microsoft's mobile OS which was kept in the dark for fear of possible leaks. Till now we have received numerous hints on the update to the Windows 8 Phone which is scheduled for April. The most interesting part of the information is what we have been hearing about the next-generation iteration of the OS dubbed Windows Phone 8.5.

Talking about this WP Emulator, TimeMe developer has encountered an interesting tooltip which indicates that the secondary live tiles will most probably not be available in Windows Phone 8.5. But this also does not indicate that this secondary live tile will disappear completely. Although what could happen out of this would be a possibility of the API getting altered completely rewritten to allow new functionality. Under all circumstances, Microsoft is looking forward to changing the start screen in Windows Phone 8.5.

On the other hand, the Windows 8.1 will let developers use a shorter time period for their Live tiles. At the moment, the update happens after every 30 mins but a shorter update period will be introduced by Windows 8.1 (as short as 1 minute).
