Sony has always been known as the pioneer of many technological inventions and Panasonic has always stayed ahead with their best quality. Thanks to Sony and Panasonic, we now have a long-term storage option in disc form with the new Archival Disc format. It has a vast storage space which falls between 300GB and 1TB. The non-HDD form factor is continuously being improved by these two companies so it gains more resistance to extremity in temperatures and humidity.
Sony and Panasonic is also promising to deliver the "inter-generational compatibility" among different formats as the standard matures. But so far this has only been in words and we will have to wait to see it for ourselves. The team up in the initial stages was signed up a year back in July but there is a long wait ahead of us and the first of the disks will make their appearance in the summer of 2015.

About the Geek Mind
The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
