Peter Chou, HTC’s CEO is gaining a reputation for creating phones which are visually and technologically appealing.
HTC’s latest smartphone, the One M8 is one that has an exquisite design. In an interview with HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou discussed the processes behind the unique flagship smartphone. Chou revealed that their challenge was to create a completely different device from the M7. He further claimed that since last year he has decided on creating products that were similar to watches and jewelry in regards with having them “stand out”.
Chou invested both physically and mentally into the creation of this phone, claiming that he had lost 5 kg in the process. This was done to truly realize how a consumer would feel when the M8 would reside in his/her pocket. This allowed him to give valuable advice to the design team regarding any improvements or modifications which could make the M8 experience better and make it feel more natural in the hands of its owner. Furthermore, HTC develops around 30-50 versions of a phone incorporating all improvements in color, shape, batter and all-over finish in the final product.
Alongside this Chou also included that the creation of the Duo Camera entailed 18 months. The chip set creation, as reported by the Vice President of Marketing at Qualcomm, has been in collaboration with HTC since an earlier time. Qualcomm encountered many challenges according to the VP including modifying the Snapdragon 801 to be able to carry the load of the HTC One’s state-of-the art features, making it 45% faster than its previous version i.e. Snapdragon 800. Clearly, Peter Chou has been a great influence in creating the M8 as a premium smartphone.
