Coolest iPhone 5S Features

Here are some of the coolest features for the most recent Apple smartphone release: the iPhone 5S.

AirDrop File Transfer

Apple’s AirDrop feature brings file sharing abilities that Android devices have had for years. Apple ups the ante, however, by allowing AirDrop to use Wi-Fi for device connection, which is much faster than Bluetooth and Near Field Communications (NFC) that Android devices file transfers use.

Fingerprint Sensor

Touch ID allows the iPhone 5S’ home button to be capacitive and clickable. You can use the fingerprint scanner to unlock your iPhone, make purchases on the App Store or iTunes, and fill in usernames and passwords. You can save up to 5 different fingerprints on one device – and yes, it is possible to use your nose as a fingerprint! It is perfect for cold weather when your hands are bundled up in gloves. The fingerprint sensor offers both convenience and security and is hands down the favorite iPhone 5S feature.

A7 Chip and M7 Coprocessor

The Apple iPhone 5S boasts a 64-bit processor that makes your phone run at lightning speeds. More bits mean more processing power, which allows you to run more apps and use more complex ones. M7 is the hero that saves the battery life of the iPhone 5S, accompanying the A7 chip and taking on motion data that would require much more battery power. Motion data includes input from the accelerometer and compass. If you are not using these functions, the M7 quietly reduces network pinging automatically to preserve battery life.

iSight Camera

While the iPhone 5S’s camera does not have as many megapixels as other smartphones, there are a multitude of features – such as auto image stabilization, panorama photos, and photo filters – and that more than make up for it. The iPhone 5S camera’s sensor captures more light than its competitors’ cameras, allowing photographs in darker environments. It also has true tone flash made of both a white LED and amber LED, providing more natural lighting for your photographs. 1080p HD video recording is possible with the iPhone 5S, providing stunning clarity for all your important moments. Because the iPhone 5S can record video at 120 frames per second, it is possible to capture videos in slow motion and zoom in while recording.

LTE Capability

Wireless LTE is supported on the iPhone 5S up to 13 bands, which tops all of its competitors. Unfortunately, the speed of your LTE depends primarily on your wireless carrier. But that just means that your iPhone 5S isn’t holding you back.

Siri: Better Than Ever

Siri has more commands and responds to your inquiries faster than ever before. You can have her make calls or reply to messages, manage your calendar events, and get answers to questions using the powerful Wolfram Alpha.
