A prosecutor said Stephanie Greene, 39, was an attendant and knew the dangers of taking painkillers while pregnant and breastfeeding, rather deciding to cover her pregnancy from specialists so she could continue getting her medicines. She lost her nursing permit in 2004 for attempting to get sedates wrongfully. Greene's attorney said she was just attempting to quit crippling torment from a pile up more than a prior decade and depended on her own judgment and restorative research on the Internet rather than the exhortation of specialists and is still overpowered with misery from breastfeeding overdose which killed her youngster. The 20-year sentence was the base after a Spartanburg County jury discovered Greene blameworthy of murder by breastfeeding overdose. She could have confronted up to life in a correctional facility. Greene will need to serve 16 prior years she is qualified for parole. She didn’t say anything in court and quietly rearranged out of the court, her hands and feet shackled, after she was sentenced.
Her legal counselor said she will advance and it’s probable the case will be attached up for quite some time to come. Both the prosecutor and Greene's attorney concur no mother has ever been indicted in the United States for executing her youngster through a substance transmitted through breastfeeding overdose. Additionally, prosecutors didn't demonstrate how the infant got the morphine and there is minimal logical confirmation that enough morphine can accumulate in breast milk to murder a newborn child, Greene's attorney Rauch Wise said.
As reported by doctors, Greene’s 4-year old son was unconscious and passed away a short while after. It was realized that during the process of breastfeeding overdose some of the painkillers that the mother was taking had passed onto the child, being lethal enough to kill him. An adult prosecutor, Barry Barnette revealed this news regarding Stephanie Greene having killed her child through breastfeeding overdose. He adds that he does not want mother to stop breastfeeding their children as a result of the prosecution but simply wants to shed light on how Green’s sacrificing her health ultimately led to her having to sacrifice her child.
