It was the last scene where the two are together in a dance of death. And the executive producer has proclaimed the death of William Lewis. He is definitely not to come back from the Land of the Dead.
"He's not coming back. I can now affirm that fact. We have a morgue scene in the next episode…the hand isn't going to reach up from the grave or anything like that," Warren Leight, Law & Order: SVU's executive producer, told E! News.
Lewis went through some pretty chaotic and hellish times. He did his Harry Houdini act and got out of prison. Then he went on a homicidal fling. He abducted a cute little girl. The madman even attempts to have forced sex with Benson and finally plays a game of Russian roulette and dies through his own machinations.

The final scene shows Mariska Hargitay covered in blood and Lewis dead as a dodo. The shooting of this imagery was a shocker alright but it was necessary too. The bloody end was meant to portray a nihilistic departure from the lived-happily-ever-after scenario.
Something also lies in the future for Mariska Hargitay yet it is being kept under wraps. The drama did take on a sinister twist and now it seeks a bit of resolution. After all, there is calm after the storm.
The fact that Benson goes to see her therapist is another fact that may lie in the cards. After all, after having gone through so many tortures and nightmares as Mariska Hargitay has may mean that a lot of healing is due.
To relax fully and let your hair down seems to be the goal in this drama of danger. Benson’s character has the nuances and infinite complexity to see her through. But one thing is for sure.
Lewis is gone with the wind. He did his stint and now is not part of the dramatic show’s ensemble. Mariska Hargitay will meanwhile continue her job as Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU.
