20.5 million copies have been sold for the PlayStation 4 software along with digital downloads

PlayStation 4 has been a huge success for Sony and the next gen gaming console has surpassed sales of 7 million all over the world which in itself is a great milestone acheived. The software sales have also remained stready till now and ore than 20.5 million copies sold worldwide and through digital downloads. The console was first unveiled in February 2013 and was first launched in the US on November 5th and this is when Sony got its biggest acheivement of selling more than a million consoles within the first 24 hours. By early December, the numbers reached an impressive 2.1 million.

Sony Computer CEO Andrew House made a statement which said that "The response from the global gaming community for PS4 has been overwhelming and we are truly humbled that gamers are selecting PS4 $399.00 at Amazon as their next generation console of choice."

During all this time, the gamers have had the advantage of the console's integrated social capabilities which have captured more than 135 million shares and streaming more than 4.9 million broadcasts and almost 90 million gaming sessions via Twitch and Ustream. When it comes to the console world, Sonys is certainly sitting at the top and is constantly beating the Xbox One by Microsoft as far as the sales digits are concerned. According to House, "The PS4 journey has just begun, and although we are still facing difficulties keeping up with the strong demand worldwide, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meet the needs of our customers, and surpassing the wildest expectations of gamers by delivering new user experiences that inspire and engage."
