New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick completed a half-mile marathon on April 26, per multiple reports.
Andy Hart of Patriots Football Weekly (via Patriots.com) reports the 62-year-old Belichick was able to complete the half-marathon in two-and-a-half hours:
"A couple weeks before he'll be running the Patriots draft, Bill Belichick spent Saturday doing a more common kind of running.
"Belichick was in Nashville, Tenn. to take part in the Rock n' Roll Marathon Series half-marathon in the city of his birth.
"Though he didn't wear his traditional gray Patriots hoodie, Belichick found the power to complete the 13.1-mile run in a pretty impressive 2:36:46, according to the race's official website.
"That equates to an 11:58 avg. pace over the course of the half-marathon for the 62-year-old sideline general."
The Tennessean's Chip Cirillo confirms Belichick ran with his fiancee, Linday Holliday, a Franklin High School and Vanderbilt University alumna. The finish line was outside LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans.
Belichick, who himself was born in Nashville, told Cirillo,"It was a great run. I came out to support Linda in her hometown race for her first half-marathon."
Cirillo notes Belichick's father, Steve, was a former Vanderbilt Commodores assistant football coach.
A photograph of Belichick and Holliday running together can be seen in the latter's Instagram account.
Scott Wietecha of Hendersonville, Tenn. was proclaimed the men's division winner by finishing the marathon with a time of 2:25:52. Nashville's Jeanette Faber won the women's division by clocking 2:47:30, per The Associated Press (via WCVB.com).
Belichick and Holliday have been staying in shape and preparing for the marathon in the weeks leading up to it. Fansided.com's Bryan Rose describes how the two hit the weights hard on March 3.
"Belichick's girlfriend, Linda Holliday, posted a picture of the two pounding iron and as expected, there was Bill, wearing his cut-off sweatshirt.
"Now -- I'm not one to pick on the gym wardrobe selection, but really? A hoodie?
"It's not as if Bill is doing light work. He appears to be hitting the weights pretty hard, so you think you'd want something a little more comfortable and less restricting.
"You know, like, workout clothing. The Patriots do give him an endless supply."
A photo of the two working out can be seen on Holliday's March 3 post on Instagram.
Belichick is entering his 15th season as head coach of the Patriots. He also coached the Cleveland Browns from 1991-95. He has an overall win-loss record of 199-105 (.655) through April 28, per Pro-Football-Reference.com.
