The famous man who engaged in voiceovers for Shaggy and Robin has reached his 82nd birthday. Casey Kasem, the legend behind the language on television is in a frail condition though.
We all loved hearing the shaky hesitant voice of the cowardly Shaggy on Scooby Doo. And who can forget Robin’s sentences on Batman. But did you know that the man who spoke those words was a Lebanese American named Casey Kasem?
He served in the United States Army in Korea and even did a stint as DJ while posted in foreign territory. Kasem was a man of many voices and he gave all his years, some seven odd decades, to the media.
Finally, to honor this wonderful and extraordinary man, a pavement star on the walk of fame was laid out. His career spanned many years and he had indefatigable energy while he worked for the radio. Casey also did jobs for music videos and movies. And he had an infectious smile which made the sunshine pale in comparison.
Casey made it to the Top 40 list. Among the list of programs Casey worked for can be included: Sesame Street, NBC, Transformers, Robin and Shaggy.
The talented star was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 27, 1932. His parents were from Lebanon and were of Druze background. Casey began his radio job in the 1950s and later on fame crossed his path.
In the capacity of a disk jockey, Casey excelled and shone with brilliance. Currently though he is in his old age. And he has just turned 82 years of age. His birthday is being celebrated despite his fragile condition.
While Casey is convalescing in hospital with his second wife, who is taking care of him, his grownup children from a previous wife are having a difficult time. They had been prevented from meeting Casey by his current wife.
Casey is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. And several of his fans and well-wishers gathered on the social sites to wish him a very happy birthday.
