Not Like Everybody Else; Microsoft and Nokia's first joint ad
So it had been a while since we had been hearing about the deal between Microsoft and Nokia and it was only until last Friday that Nokia officially joined the Microsoft world. We didn’t see any special activity following the official announcement because of the weekend but today was the first working day after the agreement confirmation and Microsoft has issued an ad on YouTube that portrays the big happy family as Not Like Everybody Else.
In the ad Microsoft is represented by the colorful person who is standing out quite prominently in the midst of the black and white street dwellers. The person, figuratively being Microsoft, is just walking around in the murky looking world and is being cool and different and then he comes across another colorful person, which is obviously Nokia. So basically the whole ad revolves around this concept that perhaps we are too the black and white murky world. There have been a handful of ads from Microsoft on the internet and though they are all not as bad, they are crushed by Nokia each time because Nokia certainly makes amazing ads. So we are hoping to see more of these amazing ads from Nokia.
The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
