Apple Balla reports that, a jury has finally reached a verdict in the court case between Apple and Samsung. Once again, Apple has won against Samsung, although it might not be as much as Apple would have wanted.
On Friday, the jury awarded Apple $119.6 million, which is far less than the $2.2 billion that they were looking for. The entire case was over what role Samsung played in infringing on patents that Apple used in the iPhone, although there was speculation that the entire ordeal was really about Google.
Regardless of the central cause, this is the second win that Apple has had. In 2012 they were already awarded $930 million and attempted to halt the sales of Samsung phones in the US, although they were unsuccessful in that aspect.
By the usual standards, this is still a large settlement, although it isn’t anything special for Apple. After years of litigation, they still aren’t any closer to reaching a successful conclusion, even though they have been award just over $1 billion so far.
There is still a question to be answered, though, as the judge could still issue a halt to sales of Samsung products, although it isn’t expected judging off of past rulings that have been received. Stay tuned to find out if this happens.
